CITY OF TOWNSEND COUNCIL MEETING 2.21.23
In Attendance: Mayor Evans, Council Members: Vickie Rauser, Angie Wintrow, Nate Brown, Matt West, (Ken Urich & Christina Hartmann absent); Tim Rauser, Jenny Barnett, Jessica Crusch, Cliff Wrobetz, Adam Six, and Eliza McLaughlin.
- Mayor Evans began the meeting at 6:30 p.m.The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all.
Guests & Correspondents
- Adam Six spoke on the Reading Leaves/Main Street Grant and the small pavilion/shelter that will be built in the Spring. The grant has been approved, so projects will move forward. He also stated that there is a Public Hearing for the Recreation Board March 6th at 6:00 p.m. at the Flynn Building. On a side note, Adam stated that the Fall Fest is scheduled for Sept 29, 30th & October 1st, 2023.
- Angie Wintrow and Mayor Evans stated they met with county commissioner regarding the City’s involvement with the Airport. A discussion was held as to why they City is involved and the cost the city would be responsible for within the next year with the Airport’s improvements and land purchase. More research will be done to see how the joint ownership came about, and what the benefit is for the city to be involved with this venture.
- Peter Simon will have the new language regarding the Solicitor’s Ordinance, and then stated that we will be ready for the 1st Reading on Solicitor’s Ordinance. The 1st Reading for the Solicitor’s Ordinance will be held at the next City Council Meeting on March 7th.
-He would also like to form a committee for “Event Ordinance Research”. Matt suggested to have the same people as the Solicitor’s Ordinance Committee, which is Matt, Ken, & Angie.
-BARSAA funding has been being used for the streets in town. There needs to be a resolution to move the funds to begin to the next project. Peter will need to know what the new project will be. (Tim will give input) Vickie asked if we could have this ready for 1st meeting in March.
-Peter has not looked at any agreement and what direction to go with Montana Internet. Mayor Evans stated he’d like to increase their tower rent. Possibly terminate agreement and re-negotiate.
-Zoning fees need to be changed by the Planning Board. A meeting will be set to complete this. Agreement with WWC is from 2020, and we need to look at the rates we are being charged so we can update our fee schedule. (Fix all zoning forms/applications to disclose fees) People need to know if they call WWC that they are the ones who will be charged, not the city.
