May 7, 2026
Call to Order: Mayor Rauser called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Council members in attendance are Angie Wintrow, Vivian Boaz, Peter Simon, and Nate Brown. Councilman JB Howick called in absent. Also in attendance are Nichole Simon, Andrew Herrick, and Kari Williams.
Public Comment: Any matter not on the agenda but under the City’s jurisdiction. (no comment)
- Event Application for the Slice of Summer: Townsend Rotary hosts three Slice of Summer events, one in June, one in July, and one in August. Angie pointed out that there is not a copy of their insurance policy included with their event application. The organizer/host has to carry the insurance. Angie also pointed out that if the Rotary plans to have bouncy house again this year for the kids, she does not think that any insurance carrier that will assume liability to cover injuries that happen in a bouncy house. There will be a statement within the insurance that states the City of Townsend is not liable for any injuries. Peter made a motion to table this until the next meeting in order to request and receive a copy of their insurance. Angie seconded the motion. All in favor, motion carried.
- Event Application for Military Vehicle Preservation Association: The initial request was received via email on April 23rd. The convoy is on their way to Three Forks, and they would like to stop in Townsend, take a restroom break at Heritage Park, and allow anyone from the public to look at their military vehicles. They would like to request a street closure on South Pine Street between Broadway and C Street. Angie asked if this would require the City crew to be called out on a Sunday to place the barricades. Angie made a motion to table action on the Military Event Application until the next council meeting. Vivian seconded the motion. All in favor, motion carried.
- Claims-April 2026: Peter made a motion to approve and pay April Claims. Nate seconded the motion. All in favor, motion carried.
Adjournment: Nate made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Angie seconded the motion. All in favor, motion carried.
