Broadwater Clerk and Recorder, Angie Paulson, delivered the results from the municipal election with the mayor and ward III council position.  She explained in detail the process of receiving and counting the votes.  She showed everyone the numbers displaying the following results:  Nate Brown, council position, received 90 votes from Ward III; Vivian Boaz received 39 votes from Ward III.  Vickie Rauser, mayor position, received 80 votes from Ward I, 120 votes from Ward II, and 71 votes from Ward III for a total of 271 votes.  JB Howick:  received 57 votes from Ward I, 94 votes from Ward II, and 60 votes from Ward III for a total of 211 votes.  There was a 54% voter turnout, which is good for a city election.

Angie made a motion that we accept the canvass of the November 7, election for mayor and council position for ward III.  Vickie Rauser for mayor and Nate Brown for the council position.  Ken Urich seconded the motion.  All in favor, motion carried.

Vickie stated that we have one letter of interest to fill Matt West’s position on the council.  The letter of interest is from Vivian Boaz who is here tonight.  Vivan is the currently the secretary of the volunteer fire department, so Vickie stated that any vote pertaining to the fire department, Vivian would have to abstain from voting since there would be a conflict of interest.  Vivian stated that she understood that.  She also stated that she’s willing to be on various committees and would like to be a very active participant on the council.  Vickie made a motion to accept Vivian Boaz’s letter of interest and appoint her to fill the remainder of Matt West’s term on the council.  Ken Urich seconded the motion.  All in favor, motion carried.

Congratulations all around!

Ken made a motion to adjourn the meeting; Nate seconded the motion.  All in favor, motion carried.
